WHAT
WE DO
Hemisphere is an event organized by Open Mind. It brings together a composite and multidisciplinary research community: NGOs, institutions, companies and territory: the aim is on the one hand to generate awareness on the protection of the environment and on the other to create concrete actions to fight climate change.
PROGRAMS & PROJECTS.
Our research activities are based on the following pillars: respect for the environment and the protection of the most vulnerable areas, alongside the interests of local communities, economies, and traditions. The market is not excluded but is a key element for economic sustainability, which is a significant social driver, as also suggested by our partner NGOs.
Respect for the Communities
Through training programs, we aim to provide basic education to local communities, improving well-being and quality of life and production.
Agronomy and Agroecology
We implement sustainable farming practices that respect the environment and workers, using agroforestry methods to protect the soil and increase resilience and biodiversity.
Forest Restoration
With EUDR 1115/2023, we certify that products do not come from deforested areas using satellite data, contributing to the sustainability and conservation of forests.
Research
Our research leverages new technologies: open data, state-of-the-art artificial intelligence for the environment. It involves minigrid and photovoltaics to deliver low-cost energy even in areas without electricity, improving access to data, and supporting basic education as well as production.
Economical
Growth
We propose and work in projects that create real economic growth, strengthening or building local capacities and resources, using data, agroforestry practices, and smart technologies, and helping to harmonize with European growth.
Languages and Cultures
We promote a common language that unites researchers, companies and local communities, respecting cultural diversity and improving the documentation of underrepresented languages, contributing to human and economic growth.
